Ten Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø students studying French accompanied Mahadevi Ramakrishnan, of the Department of Romance Languages, on an educational trip to the French island of Martinique during spring break 2011.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo will speak at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Love Auditorium, Olin Hall. For those who can’t attend the free session, his talk will be webcast live, allowing online viewers to pose questions and interact with other viewers.

Attending the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar means being open to a different kind of film festival.  Don’t, for example, ask for a list of films to be screened, because you won’t get one. Do, however, be open to in-depth discussion, and lots of it.

The 16th annual Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Writers’ Conference, featuring a week of intensive workshops in the writing of fiction, non-fiction prose, and poetry, will take place June 19-25. A number of well-known writers will serve as faculty for the event, which draws both published and aspiring writers to discuss their writing, work on pieces, and attend readings.

Two groups of students studying foreign languages were able to immerse themselves in different cultures recently through the Beyond Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø program. Twelve students spent a day at La Maison amérindienne, a museum and interpretive center east of Montreal, Quebec.
